As we are all busy planning our New Year’s Resolutions, here are three resources you can useto plan for retirement in 2024.
Christmas is always a big deal in my home. One of our favorite activities that my wife put together last year is a hands-on advent calendar for the kids. Every day, the kids read a handful of verses, or at least the 7-year-old is reading, and the 3-year-old waits in anticipation. Only after that do each of them get a Hershey's Kiss. It’s the act of anticipating the sweet pleasure that gets them to go through their verse hygiene.
One day I realized retirement planning is a lot like that. The sweet release is kicking off your shoes, enjoying time with the family, and taking that trip you’ve been waiting for. Before you can do that, some work must be done to ensure your financial house is in order. Steps can be taken to give you clarity and confidence that you’ll be ok if there is a recession in 2024, or that you’ll be ok when the market drops +20% again, or you’ll be ok if someone close to you gets that unwelcome diagnosis.
These resources are a starter guide.
They are a glimpse of the number of items that should be considered.
You only retire once.
